Many of my clients wonder why they fall away from doing daily heart-centered meditations. I have found several reasons for not taking the time to sit in a meditative centered state. When a person gains insight into their underlying unconscious dynamics, then the ego grasps control and the person feels better, has less anxiety regarding the situation or has manipulated their external environment giving them a sense of comfort and power. They believe they do not have to meditate with the underlying dynamic or fear any longer. To get beyond this seduction, we attend to whether we have serenity or stillness with the situation. Integrative Consciousness is being present with our vulnerabilities and not reaching for ego defense or power. Remaining present with vulnerability allows transformation of the dynamic to occur within our consciousness, not just within the ego structure.

Another reason for not meditating is that meditation while it produces wonderful, "feel-good" results is difficult at times. To be in compassion gets us in touch with loving ourselves. Many people have difficulty loving themselves because of low self-worth.A third reason we do not meditate is if we are using meditation to be present and aware of vulnerability or a suffering, this takes courage. Who wants to bring on their suffering, be aware of it and stay in the vulnerability? Transformative work takes courage,  persistence.
